Zevia – The Keto Soda

By: Jonnathan Zin Truong

Although the verdict on stevia’s effect on our body is still out, stevia has become the go-to sweetener for most keto lifer’s, like us. One of the greatest drawbacks that we found when we started our keto lifestyle was the lack of options in our food and drink choices. Most of you who are reading this, probably grew up in the typical American home where sodas, junk food, and fast food were the norms. Those early years in our lives, trained our taste buds to seek out and consume those foods. Although, whole foods and water are always the best options, some days you just need to treat yourself. Today, I want to introduce you to Zevia, the zero everything soda.

Below are the amazing flavors Zevia has masterfully created:

FLAVORS

  • Black Cherry
  • Caffeine Free Cola
  • Cherry Cola
  • Cola
  • Cream Soda
  • Dr. Zevia
  • Ginger Ale
  • Ginger Root Beer
  • Grape
  • Grapefruit Citrus
  • Lemon Lime Twist
  • Mountain Zevia
  • Orange
  • Strawberry

I can tell you that every flavor above tastes better than you would expect a sugar free soda would taste. My go-to flavors are Dr. Zevia, Ginger Ale, and Grape. However, I can say with all honesty that these flavors are by far the best flavors on the market. In addition to their sodas, Zevia has other products, which we have yet to try. But if their sodas are any indication of quality and taste, I would guess that the other items below would be just as good, and personally, I cannot wait to try them.

Since all of these items are sweetened with stevia, you can expect a little of the stevia aftertaste, but not much. I’m not sure how these wizards did it, but they have been able to capture many of the non-stevia branded flavors, including, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, 7up, and more. However they’re doing it, I hope that they keep it up.

Again, we advocate that water is by far the best liquid to drink, however, when you need a sweet treat without the chemicals and calories of traditional sodas, I recommend Zevia. The only drawback to this soda is their price point. They cost about 30-40% more than traditional sodas, but with other brands falling short on flavor and options, Zevia is well worth it for an occasional treat.
